Throwing it back to 2 years ago when this beautiful mom walked into the studio for her maternity session. We have come full circle now. Shy, quiet and admitting she has no idea what to do. She placed all her trust in me and said let’s do this. ;). As with all my sessions, we get to know you. We chat, we laugh and making you feel comfortable even if we end up chatting longer than expected. She was also one of my first maternity clients in the new studio space.
The above image was one that was in the moment. Often times you’ll find that I get into a zone and on a whim will say k…I have an idea lol. The mood, lighting and calmness of our session called for some texture and grounding. Resulting in this simplistic and natural image.
Mom and Dad came back into studio once the arrival of their first child was born. Sweet Sophie.
And now jumping forward to present day, mom emailed with some amazing news that they were expecting the arrival of their 2nd. This time we had the whole family in and the resulting memories are oh so adorable…wouldn’t you agree?

6 Months a Family: Oshawa_Ajax_Toronto_Baby_Milestone_Photographer_Petra_King_Photography
Morning!
It’s early..like super early. I woke at 3:45am. Body tired and brain racing. So rather than toss and turn and get annoyed with myself here I am. LOL…I know. I know! Some of you would be like…you are insane woman go back to bed. Part of being an entrepreneur is that I find I work at such odd hours but in all honesty I don’t mind. It’s quiet. Just the sound of my thoughts racing and the keyboard.
So jumping right into my next blog entry for you I would like to introduce a sweet little 6 month old and her doting new parents. Meet Leila! Her mama has been following for the better part of the last year and couldn’t wait to come into the studio for her daughters milestone session. Due to some commitments she wasn’t able to come in earlier but I just adored her excitement the day of. Seriously…it’s so humbling and cute to watch new parents enter the studio with expectations high and adrenaline running strong.
Aspen Florist designed some gorgeous florals for us to use that day and mom was totally blown away. Not only was it a coincidence that these blooms were her favourite but the arrangement and colour scheme that morning were on point! Here’s a few memories of what we captured that day!
Aren’t they gorgeous? This sweet young new little family were so much fun to work with. Not to mention little Leila was in a good mood too! Can’t wait to document her grow!

Nested Bean_Branding_Partnership_Petra_King_Photography
If you have been following along over on Instagram you’ll know that the studio has been a buzz lately. It’s pretty awesome and I am so grateful for you all. I wanted to share with you a fun shoot that we did last month when Nested Bean contacted the studio for a Branding Partnership. Naturally I did some research on them as any parent would and found that this company’s core values and interests resonated with my niche and the well being of babies and parents. When working with other companies, one of the first things I look for is…”Would I use this myself?” I am a mother myself, so therefore if there is a comes to products, if I am not a firm believer and lover of things then it’s not something I would pass along to my clients and families.
When you become a parent, one of the things that is universally deprived is sleep. Am I right?
Nested Bean created a product that every mom and dad can use. The Zen Sack is one of their best sellers and you can see why. This “baby sleeping bag” is designed so that it is gently weighted on baby’s chest to mimic the gentle pressure of mom or dad’s hand to soothe baby to sleep. The fabric is cotton and bamboo and super soft. It’s easy to close and open zipper along the side and has 2 settings for dome closures over the shoulders.
We did a Branding Shoot with 4 sweet little babies in studio. All various ages and we couldn’t have been more excited. Both Mom’s and Babies did amazing! A HUGE thank you goes out to all who visited and helped us out.

Nested Bean provided us with 3-6 and 6-12 month old Zen Sacks. Plenty of room to grow and many nights ahead of sleep for these little ones.
Thank you Nested Bean, and our adorable little babies. This was such a fun opportunity! IF you have a little one and have been on the fence about a product to aid with sleeping. I highly recommend you check out the Zen Sack. They also carry a few other options that are lighter weight for those hot and humid summer nights.

Baby Girl-1st Birthday Milestone: Petra King Photography Floral Shoot
When I was contacted to do a shoot for a sweet little one year old girl from this beautiful mama I was thrilled and excited. I knew right away what I wanted for her in studio. In comes Aspen Florist with the most gorgeous David Austin roses. Seriously tho, if you have yet to experience them in real life go see her. She manages to find the most brilliant, heavenly and stunning roses I know.
When this little one arrived with her mama she was nothing but smiles! We knew we were in for some fun! Meet Mia!

Mia was so full of expressions, gummy smiles, dimples as you can see. I love LOVE when my clients are comfortable in our studio and babies are relaxed and having fun. It seriously makes for the best experience and photographs and memories!
