The magic of an engagement session when the sun peaks through as the first snow of the month starts to fly. Yep it was SO cold but gah…so worth it.
Despite the bitter temps Mitch and Madison spiced things up keeping one another warm and looked AMAZING in the process.
I was and still am obsessed with their connection, emotions and this stunning backdrop to celebrate their engagement. There is something about the forest that envelopes you and stirs all of your senses to be present. Combine that with a photography session and just watch how it shifts your body language. You are more in tune with one another when surrounded by beauty and calm.
Like this moment right here. Only we knew that the wind was biting our toes and stinging our cheeks haaa.

Why have a Baby Milestone Session: Oshawa Toronto Baby Studio Photographer
Why bother having a Baby Milestone session? Well mama, those chubby fingers and toes won’t stay like that. The cute baby feet and way their fingers curl into a fist will be crawling all over the floor before you know it. If they aren’t already doing so. Seriously, they grow FAST! Documenting this first year and stages you love is something I know you won’t ever regret. Plus think of it this way, these photographs will grow in value year after year. I promise.
When do I book a Baby Milestone session?
Baby Milestone sessions are typically done between 6-8 months and 9-12 months of age. If you’ve had a Maternity session with us and are planning to document your little bundle of love these are amazing ages to photograph. I would put money on it that baby has learned a new skill or two. I’d love to see what that is and document it for you to remember. Babies are so sweet and silly that even playing peek a boo is made into a game while they are here. My studio is relaxes, bright and welcoming. A welcoming environment for babies to feel safe and can let their personalities shine through.

Full Circle: Oshawa_Maternity_Baby_Photographer_Petra_King_Photography
Throwing it back to 2 years ago when this beautiful mom walked into the studio for her maternity session. We have come full circle now. Shy, quiet and admitting she has no idea what to do. She placed all her trust in me and said let’s do this. ;). As with all my sessions, we get to know you. We chat, we laugh and making you feel comfortable even if we end up chatting longer than expected. She was also one of my first maternity clients in the new studio space.
The above image was one that was in the moment. Often times you’ll find that I get into a zone and on a whim will say k…I have an idea lol. The mood, lighting and calmness of our session called for some texture and grounding. Resulting in this simplistic and natural image.
Mom and Dad came back into studio once the arrival of their first child was born. Sweet Sophie.
And now jumping forward to present day, mom emailed with some amazing news that they were expecting the arrival of their 2nd. This time we had the whole family in and the resulting memories are oh so adorable…wouldn’t you agree?

Simply Motherhood Sessions: Oshawa_Bowmanville_Toronto_Petra_King_Photography
Our 2nd Annual Mother’s Day Sessions were a success!! A HUGE thank you to all the mamas, gorgeous littles and siblings that behaved that day lol. I know all too well how stressful pictures can be. Let alone MOM stepping out in front of the camera to join in. But…our calm and bright enviornment in the studio usually helps with the moods of babies and children. Pair that with taking the time to allow them to warm up and the possibility of a “treat” at the end they are usually golden lol!
That all said…these sessions are always so much fun and full of emotion. It is also a time where we allow mom and babe/children to just be! To be completely relaxed, quiet and interact as they normally would at home. Cuddles, counting ribs to get them to giggle, kisses, etc etc. These are the moments that us mom’s adore! Even more so when that is reciprocated from their little one/s.
Here are a few sneak peaks from just some of our sessions that day. Enjoy…And OMG…would you look at those arrangements? GASP…seriously guys..the studio smelled amazing and looked stunning! All our mama’s took some BTS and we loved that they were sharing their experience too.
Once again, the ever talented Aspen Florist blows our clients experience out of the water. Thank you Lisa for all you do and for making our moms (and children) feel so special and loved!

Ultimate Maternity Session: Toronto_Oshawa_Maternity_Event_Photographer_Petra_King_Photography
So what if I told you that we held an event for expecting moms back in March that was “thee” Ultimate Maternity Session? What if I also told you that it was more than any of us imagined?
If you are a regular around here you will have remembered seeing my posts, hype and sneak peaks for this magical shoot. But then we kinda went dark about things… well there was a reason for that. I mean, after the buzz and sneaks via our Highlights on Instagram, the thank you’s to everyone involved both on and offline, business carries on. BUT…we knew it would take some time post production for everything to come together. The reason behind the wait is that we have been waiting for some footage to share with you as well as being published. If you are a photographer or work in editorial/media world, you will know that these things take time. To the general public most of us don’t understand how things work for publishing. Submitting your work to various companies is exciting and scary and can take a LONG time. I have always be one to let my work speak for itself, continuous learning and bettering oneself. My work, and passion for my business has never taken the “me first attitude…look what I did etc etc…” That’s just not who I am. On the other hand, I am well aware that you need to step up and own your business.. To share WHY you are different and what you offer and most importantly HOW you make people feel.
All that said… I am beyond thrilled to be able to finally share with you just what the heck transpired that day. LOL.. THANK YOU so much for your patience, for your messages and curiosity and congratulations!!! It’s been an amazing ride so far and I could NOT have made any of this possible if it was not for my amazing team and sponsors. More so my right hand girl, Lisa at Aspen Florist for being there from day one, right through till the last hour driving home. Thank you as well to Melanie for being there to assist too!

A huge thank you to Kath Films for capturing everything for us that day. Event planning and organization is a lot of work. Deadlines, agenda’s, workflow, sequencing, technical, set up, tear down, transport, catering, audio, video, lighting, wardrobe changes, hair and makeup, floral arrangements, and a whole lot of muscle when you are a one woman show to set up on site lol! I am pretty sure I forgot a bunch of stuff in there too but you get the point. :) I’d do it all over again in heartbeat!
