Mommy and Me Session: Oshawa Motherhood Photographer Petra King Photography
This adorable duo has been coming into the studio since Peyton was still in her mommy’s tummy. Hard to believe that 2 years have passed already. When we say time flies…that’s an understatement. What’s even crazier is to hear the chatter from my littles and see how their personality has evolved.
Peyton and mom came in to celebrate her 2nd bday. We did a cute session together that was busy, full of laughter and of course lots of love.
A few more tips when working with toddlers:
Go with the flow
Have things available to incorporate to keep them engaged
Learn your nursery rhymes
Wear comfortable clothing. You are going to be busy ;)
Mommy and Me sessions are always adorable and so sweet. Those in between moments are some of my favourite as well. Roll with it, enjoy it and remember that giving them time to adjust to new surroundings always pays off.
Book your Mommy & Me Session year round. Let’s create together and document some of your favourite details to freeze time.

Pickering Oshawa Newborn Baby Boy
Austin. So little. So full of expressions and the biggest newborn stretch I’ve seen in a while ;)
At just 2 weeks this little love was fake sleeping and awake in a minute.
Big sis was oh so proud and such a sweet little girl.
Even while pinching her brother’s nose. LOL…It’s ok..she gave him a kiss after.
Family portraits in the studio are led with gentle guidance but it’s the in between moments that are my favourite.
Thank you S & K for entrusting me with your babies most treasured milestones. Over the years it’s been such an honour. I can’t wait to celebrate the next milestone together with you.

Creating calm Baby Milestone Sessions: Oshawa Baby Photography Studio
Hey mama,
Hope you’ve had a great week so far? Does anyone else feel like time is flying by but yet winter is still dragging on? Missing the sunshine desperately and I’d be lying if I didn’t do a little dance every time it pops out haaa. Although one way I’ve been keeping my mood and emotions in check is with a lot of support from Young Living. A lot of deep inhaling has been going on these days… :) If you’ve been here for a while you know that I started sharing YL to our Motherhood session and everyday life. It’s part of our daily routine around here, nothing new. But something I knew YOU and your littles would love to learn about too.

Speaking of scents, one of my fav’s to use with Baby Milestone sessions is Lavender. Calming, soothing, relaxes fussy or anxious babies (and nervous moms) It’s usually in the diffuser in studio and I like to wear a little too. It helps create an environment that everyone enjoys being in.
Plus…happy baby, happy mama = happy photographer :)
3 Cool Tips about scents you may not know:
Did you know that smell has the ability to bring back memories.
Keeps us present and grounded
and
Helps shift perspectives and brings greater awareness to our needs.
Pretty cool right? I am sure you’ve experienced that many a times in your life.
Have you ever experienced lavender? Real lavender? It’s such a complex beautiful smell. One of my bucket list’s is to travel to France and experience a Lavender farm. Another fun fact…Lavender is considered the Swiss Army of oils. Which is pretty fascinating knowing that this super oil helps you and your family in so many ways.
Sleep, healing, great for the skin, digestion and of course soothes the mind, body and soul. Just to name a few things it helps support the body with.
You and your baby’s experience in the studio matter to me. Helping to calm the nerves with you both so you are excited to create memories is what we pride ourselves in. Come in for the portraits and memories, stay a little for a serene experience that will fill your senses and heart.
If you have any questions about Lavender, or maybe I’ve peaked your curiosity to try some yourself, feel free to email me anytime. I’d love to share more with you on the product/s I love using. I know that you and your family will too! Or if you are ready to experience some yourself just follow this link to for a FREE account. Low tox living and every day motherhood is a beautiful friendship :)
As always, here if you have questions or just come for the pretty pictures. That's ok too :)

Harlow- 6 months: Oshawa_ Baby_Portrait _studio_ Petra_King_Photography
Meet Harlow. This little sweet cheeked girl came in for her 6 month session not too long ago with mom. She is the little sister of one of my long time clients and I was so excited to meet her. Her personality and expressions kept the whole studio giggling and on our toes.
Harlow had some gorgeous fresh flowers to adorn her photoshoot care of my wonderful girl over at Aspen Florist. Aren’t these just gorgeous? These stunning milestone floral numbers go home with my clients and smell heavenly. Here is Harlow and her umber 6!
These sweet curious baby blues….
A stunning sweet custom floral headband that also went home with mom. These are all custom made for each session for your baby.
Lindsay…thank you so much for coming into the studio to help celebrate this little pudding’s 6 months shoot! We loved every minute of it and hope you both did too! Can’t wait to see you for her one year!
Happy growing Harlow!

Little 5 day old baby boy
Photographing little newborn babies is something that I am completely honored to do. With every new family I journey with each is unique and beautiful in their own way. What a blessing to get to know them, to listen to how the met, their history and hear their future plans. I LOVE welcoming a newborn into the world and am humbled every time a newborn comes into the studio. This next young adorable family hung out with me earlier this week. It was awesome to see how relaxed and comfortable they were as I worked with their new son. Meet Charlie! What an adorable 5 day old. Not a peep out of him till the very end! Charlie was so alert and curious at the beginning of our session however after a full tummy and dry bottom, the rest was magical. These little people really are the boss. As mentioned many times before, being a mom helps and you go by their lead. Patience is key when photographing newborns!
He enjoyed the session too see...
He was the most curious 5 day old I have ever photographed! Soo cute...had to throw this one in there mom :)
This last photograph is pretty special. This blanket is 66 years old. A true family heirloom on Dad's side. Dad, Grandpa and many other's
were brought home from the hospital wrapped up in this. Something to cherish for years to come!
Kristy, Bryan thank you for allowing me to capture Charlie for you. What a blessing! Enjoy him, they grow so fast and I'll see you real soon!
Love,
P
Newborn Baby Portraits : Christmas Photography
I have so much blogging to catch up on ;) The 12 Days of Christmas was so much fun and I can't wait to meet all of you in 2012! The last month has been so busy both in studio and out. We've had newborns, and babies, and toddlers and and even the big kids! All filled with excitement and wonder that leads up to the most wonderful holiday of the year. Or at least my favorite anyways.
