A Beautiful Fall Family Session: Whitby, GTA Family Photography
Every year I look forward to Fall Family photos with my clients. Scheduling your fall family session is best done as early as possible. My studio and wedding schedule fill up fast so the limited dates remaining are always a juggling act. BUT I will do everything I can (weather pending) to make memories for you with colours and tones like this.
When planning your session, take nap time and your schedule in mind. If you have little ones, we want them happy and fresh. If you have older kids, you have more flexibility to go on little adventures and create memories with them at the same time.
Golden hour before the sun sets is most popular with my clients. You can clearly see why. Warm tones, and sun flares never fail for the emotive and captivating portraits that draw you right in.
If you are thinking of booking a family session, consider booking sooner than later. Contact the studio and we can start planning yours today!
What does your family story look like?

Autumn Fall Fun: Whitby Greater Toronto Area Family Photographer
Over the last 6 plus years I have loved documenting this beautiful young family. I get excited when Lindsay reaches out with a disclaimer about what craziness or mood the kids are up too. It’s a challenge, and I mean that in the best way. Not that it puts me out by any means. It keeps me young and the mood light. These kids keep me on my toes and I freaking love it. Every time I photograph Lindsay & Scott it’s always so much fun. Side splitting laughs, the kids are balls of energy and mom and dad are the coolest to work with.
Pssst…hey kids!
Sessions are meant to be fun. I typically have an idea of what I know my mom and dad’s will love and cherish but during our family sessions the goal is to just be. Gentle guidance, Me telling stupid kid jokes that often evolve around potty talk…cause let’s face it. Kids laugh and smile at that right? :)
Personalities shine through
Some small
Some BIG
Always a whole lotta love
And what session wouldn’t be complete without a few tickle fest’s and just ONE nice pic with mom?
When kids get to take a picture…
VS when I get to take a picture…
The goal is gorgeous memories and photographs. The destination however, on how we get to our goal boils down to the experience with me and how I make you feel.

Little Liam: Ajax Oshawa Baby Photographer
Tiny, but mighty and oh so cute. Liam came into the studio with his family so that mama could remember and cherish her last baby. So often I hear of moms that for whatever reason did not do a maternity, newborn or baby session with their first child/ren. I too fall into that category. I was too self conscious of how I felt about my postpartum body and suffering from depression I missed out both times.
Images that I create for my clients tug at my own mama heartstrings. Images I wish I had done. This post is not to be a sad one but that of joy. I thank YOU for allowing me to document and create for you. They are your memories to cherish but they are also mine too. I couldn’t be more in love. So if during your session I sneak another cuddle or hang onto baby a little longer you’ll know what it’s all about lol.
I mean, just look at these adorable memories for Libera and her sweet family. Gah ;)
I think Liam agrees don’t you?
See you soon friends.

David Austin Baby Session: Oshawa Floral Baby Photography
I have SO many things I love about being a Photographer. However when it comes to babies, new families and gorgeous David Austin Roses…it makes my heart beat a little faster.
I am constantly reminded with every passing month at just how much my little business has grown. The connections, the milestones and endless memories that are banked in my mind leave me speechless at times. Thank you for choosing me and my beautiful partners/team and best friends in mind when booking. We are ever grateful for you and your trust in us to create for you!
This gorgeous little family invited both myself and Lisa from Aspen Florist into their home for an absolutely stunning baby session. Lisa only uses the absolute BEST when it comes to her florals. I mean just look at these blooms. Stunning David Austin Wedding Roses have become a Signature Floral Session of PKP and Aspen Littles. You can clearly see why! Little Sophie was so lucky to be on a bed of roses (quite literally). Be it inside and out of the studio, weddings/events and of course at Aspen Petals located at Pink Lemon Decor, Lisa goes above and beyond every single time. Thank you for all you do for us all Lisa.
Kyle & Julie are completely smitten with sweet little Sophie and it’s easy to see. She has daddy wrapped around his finger already hee hee.
The Gift of Motherhood is something that stuck this beautiful sweet mama hard during her session. Julie welcomed her daughter into the world after losing an incredible woman in her life. Her Mom… I could feel the emotions in the room. I could feel her mom’s presence and I know Julie could too. Moments that are so personal, sentimental and powerful are little miracles in disguise. Blessings from above that remind us how precious life is and leave us humbled and in awe. Thank you Julie, for allowing me document these early days of Sophie’s life for you and Kyle. The 3 of you left me speechless that day.

Dreaming of the beach Oshawa Newcastle Family Photography
It’s January, the days are long, dark and cold. Does anyone else feel like the winter months drag on and on and when spring and summer roll around it’s gone in the blink of an eye? LOL…WHY? Why is this always the case? I mean I know we long for summer time, the warmth of the sun and breezy nights. But I wish we could bottle that feeling up and open it to rejuvenate ourselves whenever we wanted.
Today on my Instagram stories I shared a little of how I’ve been struggling with the winter blah’s. I must admit, I am NOT a winter lover. Haaa..while it’s perfect for Christmas Day, I could easily have enough for one week and then hibernate or move south :) As a busy mom of 2 teens, a dog mama and running my Portrait Studio it’s hard to carve out pockets of time for myself. BUT I do make it a non negotiable to get a workout in. Additionally it’s so important to take the right supplements and vitamins to support your body. If you are a busy mom and reading this you are well aware that most days it’s even hard to get a meal in. Be it hot, cold or the kids leftovers am I right?
I am very in tune with my body and when the emotions and feelings dip, I reach for things that work and that make me feel more like myself. For me that starts with my essential oils. I have been using them for about 10 years and sharing more and more with you about what I use on the daily. What I clean the studio with, diffuse during your sessions and when it’s time for sleep…what my favourite go to’s are.
There has been such a great response and interest in what I’ve been sharing of late. So first and foremost I LOVE that you are loving it too. So if you see something I use or do and it sparks your intrest or you want to learn more about, just ask. I am an open book and love sharing my favourite oils, products and daily routines with you too. Honestly…I know you will love them too.
Feel free to follow along if you’d like. I will be sharing more in the coming weeks ahead. If you’ve got questions, you know where to reach me. And if it’s not for you and you are just here for the pretty pictures that’s fine too. LOL.
Have a wonderful and healthy weekend ahead friends. Much love,
Petra
Happy New Year! Oshawa Durham Region Baby Family Photography
Hello hello!
Christmas break is officially over and while most are back to work/school today, I am sure there are a lot of mama's who will agree that the extra peace and quiet has been nice ;). We had an amazing Holiday season and I hope you and your family did too!
Speaking of family…do you and your family have any traditions? Send me a DM or comment below and let me know what they are. I’d love to learn more about you. I am always intrigued and curious to hear what other cultures love, do and look forward to once a year.
My family has some traditions that we look forward to all year round. My side of the family is from Barbados/Guyana and my husband’s is Scotland. Quite the mix I know but it certainly makes for some interesting meals/traditions. ;) If you have been follow me over on Instagram you’ll have seen I posted our Christmas morning breakfast in my stories. I know it’s not for everyone, but for me it’s so nostalgic and important to carry on traditions with my family. We have a few dishes we eat on Christmas morning and over the whole of the Christmas holiday. But one in particular we love is called Garlic Pork. It is a Guyanese dish that was introduced to Guyana from Portuguese settlers. We enjoy Garlic Pork (beef and pork) with Scotch Bonnet peppers and let it marinate for 6 days before Christmas. If it peaks your interest, you can find a recipe here.
Would you try it? Are you adventurous when it comes to trying different foods/ingredients from around the world? I am. I love it. Growing up, we loved trying different things both in our community and abroad. It’s important for me to live a life with variety, flavour and experiences.
Ok..now I’m hungry lol
And on that note I am off to make dinner :)
Wishing you a wonderful evening ahead. Wishing you health, prosperity and love for the coming year ahead. I have so much in store for you for 2023, I can’t wait to share it all with you and your families mama.
Much love,
Petra
