Happy New Year! Oshawa Durham Region Baby Family Photography
Hello hello!
Christmas break is officially over and while most are back to work/school today, I am sure there are a lot of mama's who will agree that the extra peace and quiet has been nice ;). We had an amazing Holiday season and I hope you and your family did too!
Speaking of family…do you and your family have any traditions? Send me a DM or comment below and let me know what they are. I’d love to learn more about you. I am always intrigued and curious to hear what other cultures love, do and look forward to once a year.
My family has some traditions that we look forward to all year round. My side of the family is from Barbados/Guyana and my husband’s is Scotland. Quite the mix I know but it certainly makes for some interesting meals/traditions. ;) If you have been follow me over on Instagram you’ll have seen I posted our Christmas morning breakfast in my stories. I know it’s not for everyone, but for me it’s so nostalgic and important to carry on traditions with my family. We have a few dishes we eat on Christmas morning and over the whole of the Christmas holiday. But one in particular we love is called Garlic Pork. It is a Guyanese dish that was introduced to Guyana from Portuguese settlers. We enjoy Garlic Pork (beef and pork) with Scotch Bonnet peppers and let it marinate for 6 days before Christmas. If it peaks your interest, you can find a recipe here.
Would you try it? Are you adventurous when it comes to trying different foods/ingredients from around the world? I am. I love it. Growing up, we loved trying different things both in our community and abroad. It’s important for me to live a life with variety, flavour and experiences.
Ok..now I’m hungry lol
And on that note I am off to make dinner :)
Wishing you a wonderful evening ahead. Wishing you health, prosperity and love for the coming year ahead. I have so much in store for you for 2023, I can’t wait to share it all with you and your families mama.
Much love,
Petra
