How to fight germs naturally: Petra King Photography I Wedding + Maternity + Baby Photographer

How many times have you heard yourself say next year I will be more prepared? We said goodbye to the warmer temps not that long ago and before you feel like you are stuck on the never ending Groundhog Day with sickness hamster wheel let’s get a jump on things early shall we.


Mama…I am here to let you in on my secret weapon. Actually that’s a lie. It’s NO secret at all. BUT if you are new to the world of natural and plant based products than listen up.

Thieves Essential Oil has been my #1 product to keep us healthy year round.

Thieves kills 99.96% of germs and is 100% natural. This blend has been around since the 15th Century and Young Living is the original company to bring it to market for us. Some of my favourite ways to use:

Thieves Tea: brew some tea (I love peppermint) let it cool slightly and then add some raw honey and a drop of Thieves and Lemon Essential oil.
Thieves + Honey Throat Coat: 1 tbsp honey, 1 tsp water, 2 drops Thieves, 3 drops Lemon. Heat water and honey together until liquid then add in the oils. Stir together and serve on a spoon. Make sure the liquid isn't too hot or close to boiling before adding oils. Then just eat it.

Diffuse round the clock for an amazing smell without the toxins candles release and for added IMMUNE support for everyone in your home! It goes wonderfully with Lemon or Orange for a clean, warm atmosphere! OR pair with Lavender at bedtime for sleepy, wellness vibes.

Dilute in a roller and roll on the bottom of the feet, along the spine and/or over the lymph nodes daily for overall wellness. This works perfectly for kids as part of your daily routine before school or at bedtime.

In order from left to right:

Thieves-this will be your game changer to keeping the family healthy. And when sickness hits, your recovery time will be drastically cut down. Thieves kills 99.96% of all airborne germs. Diffuse, wear topically or make Thieves, Lemon and honey tea when onset of sickness starts. Thieves is a hot oil so use with carrier oil on little ones on soles of feet or spine.

R.C- (respiratory care) amazing for sinus congestion, cough, allergies, asthma, sleep and lung infections. I also use this for my workouts. Keeps the airways open ;) Diffuse or wear topically.

Lavender- one I don’t go without. YL’s lavender is not your grandma’s lavender lol. It’s so so good. I use this daily for sleep, managing stress when I need some calm/grounding. It’s also in my mom’s wellness kit. Scrapes, bites, burns, use in your skincare regimen and so much more. Use topically on pulse points or drop into hand and inhale. Diffuse and transform your space to have more Zen/Spa like vibes.

Stressaway- Yeo the name says it all. It’s your vacation in a bottle :) Used for reducing stress and keeping emotions where they should be. That goes for ALL ages. Can be used topically or diffused. Added to skin, hair. body products or worn as perfume.

Helpful Dilution Guide: Oshawa Lot-Tox Motherhood Studio Photography

And don’t worry mama, it doesn’t mean you need to do it all at once. Swapping out products one at a time is the easiest way to go.

It’s January, the days are long, dark and cold. Does anyone else feel like the winter months drag on and on and when spring and summer roll around it’s gone in the blink of an eye? LOL…WHY? Why is this always the case? I mean I know we long for summer time, the warmth of the sun and breezy nights. But I wish we could bottle that feeling up and open it to rejuvenate ourselves whenever we wanted.

Today on my Instagram stories I shared a little of how I’ve been struggling with the winter blah’s. I must admit, I am NOT a winter lover. Haaa..while it’s perfect for Christmas Day, I could easily have enough for one week and then hibernate or move south :) As a busy mom of 2 teens, a dog mama and running my Portrait Studio it’s hard to carve out pockets of time for myself. BUT I do make it a non negotiable to get a workout in. Additionally it’s so important to take the right supplements and vitamins to support your body. If you are a busy mom and reading this you are well aware that most days it’s even hard to get a meal in. Be it hot, cold or the kids leftovers am I right?

I am very in tune with my body and when the emotions and feelings dip, I reach for things that work and that make me feel more like myself. For me that starts with my essential oils. I have been using them for about 10 years and sharing more and more with you about what I use on the daily. What I clean the studio with, diffuse during your sessions and when it’s time for sleep…what my favourite go to’s are.

There has been such a great response and interest in what I’ve been sharing of late. So first and foremost I LOVE that you are loving it too.
