Family Fall Portraits

Busy..seems like a pretty fitting word to describe these gorgeous boys. Not to mention stinkin' adorable!  Wouldn't you agree? Last week we met up on a gorgeous ( unusually mild) November weekend.  The boys each with their own personality and sense of humor is typical that of a 7 and 4 yr old certainly had me in fits of giggles at times. Our backdrop setting was wonderful, a LOT of the leaves are already on the ground however being creative with your surroundings is what makes your family portraits that much more unique! It also allows you to experience what custom photography is all about. More intimate, NOT rushed, getting to know you and your family and feeling much more relaxed and enjoyable.

Often times when a family session is scheduled there is a lot of stress from mom and dad for the kids to behave. To not embarass them, smile nice, sit up straight and all the other things we say or bribe or threaten the kids with. LOL Believe me I"VE BEEN THERE TOO!  I pull out the camera and the kids take off!  Yup happens to me too...as other photographers can testify! :D You'd think my house was adorned with beautiful portraits and artwork.  Well let me tell you, a LOT of hard work and a little luck paid off and  I managed to capture the "real" essence of my kids personalities.

However, this being said, I am upfront and honest with mom and dad. It certainly helps being a mom myself, I understand how kids and little ones work. Been there and done that. So taking a step back and letting them "be" while still "being in control" allows for some fantastic lifetstyle artwork for your home.

Just take a look below.  My goal was to get some photographs for mom and dad of just the boys.  I was in control of the techinical side of things, the location and lighting we had to work with, however to let them interact and simply be is all you need!

And a little larger....

Perfectly captured his spirit here. Thanks Carter!

Durham Region,Ajax,Whitby,Oshawa,GTA Photographer: Clothing choices

Hey all, I hope that you are enjoying your summer so far?  Hot enough for everyone? We certainly have had our share of hot and humid already!  Certainly makes for fun in the sun though.

It's a topic that arises so often these days.  "What should we wear?"  Since it's been a while, I thought I'd post some ideas once again. Just remember, these are ideas only.  How you envision your session to feel and look depends on what you bring to it.  Not just material items too.  The clothing choices you decide on, you need to be comfortable in.  The aura that you emit while in front of the camera needs to emulate you and your personality. Love yourself and no matter what you wear you will be RADIANT in your images!

I've come across an awesome blog by another very talented photographer Karlen Kleinkopf.  She offers wonderful aids for those in the "baffled stage" on what to wear to your session.

Check it out...

Need some more info? Check this earlier blog post found HERE.

Enjoy and look forward to our sessions together!

Thanks Karlen for the visuals!

Ajax,Durham Region, GTA Family Photographer:: Fashion Friday!

Been a little while and now that we are welcoming Spring with open arms, it's about time for a what to wear post now that the questions are more frequent :) Here's a few ideas and visuals to help.

A few tips to remember:

Be comfy- when we are outdoors we will have fun, be prepared to lay down in the grass, sit on a tree branch or stump, run! You need to be able to move around freely in your clothing. Kids especially. Uncomfortable children = cranky children and we all know how it goes from there ;D

Layer- looks wonderful and gives depth to a photograph!

Coordinate- clothing should coordinate with your location and type of session your are aiming for. Your choices of clothing should be coordinated together.  This is where it all ties in.

Don't be afraid of colour, however please omit the matching tops or bottoms.  Matching clothing can result in a not so wonderful photo.

Don't stress- I want this to be a fun experience for you and the family.  Don't stress.  Should you have any questions, just drop me a line and I'll glady help out.  You are going to be awesome! No worries.

Feel great- feeling comfortable about your clothing choices and yourself makes all the world in LOVING your images. I want you to LOVE your images too.  Being yourself and feeling beautiful allows the fantastic person you really are shine during your session!
