1. Choose Soft, Neutral Tones
Neutral tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you. It’s some of my favourite ways to capture you mama in this exciting season you are in.
Think:
• creams
• soft whites
• pastels
• muted earth tones
While solids work well, that’s not to say a floral or print can’t. You just need to remember that whatever you choose (if bringing your own outfit) needs to compliment your husband/partners. The colours above create a calm, cohesive look that will feel timeless years from now.
2. Flowy Dresses That Move With You
Long, flowing dresses are a favourite for maternity sessions.
They:
• highlight your bump naturally
• create soft movement
• photograph beautifully in both standing and seated poses
3. Comfort Is Key
If you’re not comfortable, it will show. Trust me ;). Some clients choose to wear jeans and a t-shirt. Yes this can still be done. Your maternity session celebrates this time in your lives and if you prefer to keep it casual and clean. I am all for that too!
Choose pieces that:
• allow you to move easily
• feel soft on your skin
• don’t require constant adjusting
4. Coordinating Your Partner + Children
Keep outfits simple and cohesive.
• neutrals work best
• avoid bold patterns or logos or graffiti
• soft layering adds depth without distraction
5. Studio Wardrobe Options
Many clients choose to use studio maternity outfits from my wardrobe for a fully curated look.
This allows you to:
• avoid shopping stress
• try on options
• trust the overall styling
